For Your Information

* Residents are reminded that it is unlawful to attach any sign to a utility pole using nails, tacks or staples. (Section 6905 Title 18 Pennsylvania Crimes Code)
* Also it is unlawful to remove shopping carts from the merchants parking lot. (Section 6712 Title 18 Pennsylvania Crimes Code)
* Residents of Nanticoke are reminded not to fall victim to scam artists. Residents have reported receiving phone calls from actors representing themselves as agents from the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS recommends the following: If you owe taxes or think you might owe, call the IRS at 800-829-1040. The IRS does not call and demand payment information over the phone, and notification will be mailed to the taxpayer.
Another scam involves the actor(s) calling potential victims telling them that a child or grandchild is in trouble and they are required to send money to a fictious law firm so an attorney can represent their relative and get them out of trouble.
At no time should you send money without verifying the source requesting the money or prior to talking to the family member that is supposed to be in trouble.
Never provide your social security number, credit card number to bank account number.
